Shallow waters process

The process of this illustration was quite straight forward. I didn’t need to do any research and could just dive into the process itself.

As always, I first sketched a few primary thumbnails and chose the one I prefered. After that I made a preliminary sketch (Which changed quite a bit once I did the lineart).

The lineart was made with a pencil brush as usual.

Since I wanted the illustration to have a night time vibe I chose to use cooler colors with a limited selection of lilacs, purples and cool pinks. This contrasts the light that is basking the character in a yellowish glow. Below is the comparison between the flat coloring and final image.
